A. Delay Of Travel Expenses
Cover for accommodation expenses if your journey is disrupted due to circumstances beyond our control. If a delay of 6 hours or greater is anticipated, we will provide accommodation to a level of 3.5 star rating or above, at the discretion of Free Spirit Airlines. Transport to and from accommodation is also included. The journey will continue on the next available and suitable flight to the original destination.
B. Lost Deposits / Cancelation Fees
Cover for cancellation fees and lost deposits for pre-paid flights due to unforeseen circumstances neither expected nor intended by you or which are outside of your control, such as: - Sickness - Accidents - Strikes - Collisions - Retrenchments - Natural Disasters
Coverage is to the value equivalent of the original purchase price of the flight plus any fees or charges incurred in the purchase of the flight thereof.
C. Luggage And Personal Effects
Cover for replacing luggage stolen whilst in our care or within the boundaries of your departure/destination airport facilities. Cover for replacing or repairing luggage if damaged whilst in our care or within the boundaries of your departure/destination airport facilities. Damaged items, including: - Luggage and Personal Effects.
Coverage is to the maximum value of $2500.
Safeguarding Your Luggage And Personal Effects
You must take all reasonable precautions to safeguard your Luggage and Personal Effects. If you leave your Luggage and Personal Effects Unsupervised in a Public Place we will not pay your claim.
(“Unsupervised” means: leaving your Luggage and Personal Effects with a person you did not know prior to commencing your Journey or leaving your Luggage and Personal Effects in a position where it can be taken without your knowledge or leaving your Luggage and Personal Effects at such a distance from you that you are unable to prevent it being taken. “Public Place” means any place that the public has access to.)
We are not and will not be responsible for missed connections with other flights, bus connections or appointments of any nature regardless of the cause of the delay.
We will process your claim within 10 business days of receiving a letter stating your claim for loss and all necessary documentation. If we need additional information, a written notification will be sent to you within 10 business days.
Dispute Resolution Process
If you have a complaint or dispute in relation to this insurance please call Free Spirit Airlines on 03-99946121 or put the complaint in writing and send it to The Dispute Resolution Department, Free Spirit Airlines Essendon Airport Terminal, 72 Hargrave Avenue Essendon Fields, Victoria 3041. Free Spirit Airlines will attempt to resolve the matter in accordance with its Internal Dispute Resolution process.
A dispute can be referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service Limited (FOS), subject to its terms of reference. The FOS provides a free and independent dispute resolution service for consumers who have general insurance disputes falling within its terms. The contact details for the FOS are:
